CONE ZONES: Expect long delays on Lefthand Canyon Drive next week due to rock scaling operations
Possible hour-long delays in two locations Monday through Friday
Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder County Transportation will conduct rock scaling operations starting at 8 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 14 in two locations on Lefthand Canyon Drive. Work will take place between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Road closures for both motorists and cyclists will be enforced when crews begin to remove rock from the hillside in order to keep travelers safe. The road will be reopened as soon as all material has been removed from the roadway and travel is deemed safe.
From Monday through Wednesday, work will take place on Lefthand Canyon Drive just west of Olde Stage Road. Lefthand Canyon will need to be closed between James Canyon Drive and Olde Stage Road at multiple times during these days. Travelers will need to use Lee Hill Drive in order to move around the work zone.
On Thursday and Friday, work will take place in the 6800 block of Lefthand Canyon Drive, which is west of Lee Hill Drive. Lefthand Canyon will need to be closed between Lee Hill Drive and Lickskillet Road at multiple times during these days. Less work is needed at this location, so delays may be less frequent.
Emergency service personnel have been informed and will be allowed through work zones as needed.
