Community walk and bike rodeo Saturday, Oct. 29 in Longmont

This FREE event teaches kids safe riding and walking skills

Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder
County, the City of Longmont, St. Vrain Valley Schools, Safe Routes to School,
and Bicycle Longmont invite families to attend and participate in a community
walk and bike rodeo aimed at helping everyone learn how to walk and ride safely
in their neighborhoods and around town. The event is geared towards kids aged
pre-kindergarten to the fifth grade, but siblings are welcome.

The
event will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Boulder County Fairgrounds, Barn A,
in Longmont.

At
3:30 p.m., staff will lead a family/group bike ride. Costumes are encouraged
but not required. All you need is a bike and a helmet to participate in the
bicycle skills education and group ride.

The
event will teach safe walking and bicycle handling skills in a safe
environment. Kids will receive free helmet checks, bike inspections, and skills
and drills education. Adults will also learn how to safely ride with their
children, where to ride, and how they can make their neighborhood more bike and
walk friendly.

Department, via email at
