Boulder County releases new request for proposals for agricultural research

Deadline for submittals is August 22

Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder County Parks & Open Space staff has issued a new request for proposals (RFP) for the Sustainable Agricultural Research and Innovation Initiative (SARII). Detailed information and applications instructions are available at www.BoulderCountyOpenSpace.org/sarii. Deadline for submittals to be sent to purchasing@bouldercounty.org is Tuesday, Aug. 22, at 2 p.m. (see below for more deadline information).

The new RFP includes refinements and added specificity to the proposed project, including a cap on annual cost of $250,000, and an expressed understanding that the project will start small and grow into the available acreage.

Requirements from the vendor include:

  1. Staff the center with a farm manager and lead research coordinator.
  2. Provide office management and necessary staffing.
  3. Provide farm and maintenance equipment for land management and research experiments.

Boulder County will provide:

  1. A staff person to coordinate with vendor, steering, and research committee.
  2. Economic analysis in conjunction with vendor’s research.

The RFP is open to all bidders that meet its listed requirements. Both previous bidders are also welcome to submit proposals in response to the new request.

Written Inquiries

All inquiries regarding the RFP shall be submitted via email to the Boulder County Purchasing Office at purchasing@bouldercounty.org on or before 2 p.m. on Mon., July 31. A response from the county to all inquiries will be posted and sent via email no later than 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 8.
