Boulder County Recycling Center is Collecting Eclipse Glasses

Boulder County, Colo. - Through a partnership with Astronomers Without Borders, the Boulder
County Recycling Center is collecting eclipse glasses for redistribution to
Asian and South American schools during the 2019 eclipse crossing those
continents.

The glasses must be undamaged
and free of lens scratches for safety, otherwise they should be recycled
properly by removing and trashing lenses and recycling paper frames. If frames
are plastic they should also be trashed.

Reuse is a major component of
a zero waste lifestyle, even more important than recycling. For that reason,
any opportunity to put an item to reuse before
recycling is preferable. Astronomers Without Borders works hard to ensure these
glasses are not only reused but reused by those who otherwise might not have
access to proper and safe eclipse viewing means.

Drop off your glasses at the Boulder
County Recycling Center located at 1901
63rd Street in Boulder. Hours: Monday-Friday 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
