Draft maps currently available online, comment deadline is Feb. 4

Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder County
Transportation and the State of Colorado are hosting a series of public
meetings to present draft floodplain maps from the Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA) and the Colorado Hazard Mapping Program (CHAMP)
for portions of the Fourmile Creek, Gold Run, and Fourmile Canyon Creek
corridors in unincorporated Boulder County. These meetings will provide
opportunities for the public to review draft updated map information along
the Boulder County portions of these river reaches. Staff will be available
to answer questions and take comments.

Public Map Review Meetings

Residents along Fourmile Creek, Gold Run, and Fourmile
Canyon Creek (below Anne U. White trailhead) located within Boulder
County and other interested parties are invited to attend the open house
map review meetings listed below. Meeting attendees can explore maps and
provide feedback directly to project team members. Boulder County wants the
draft maps to accurately reflect local flood risk, which is why residents
living along area creeks and rivers are encouraged to get involved and
provide input at this early stage. Comments gathered will be evaluated and
provided to the state team for their consideration during their next round
of revisions, floodplain modeling, and mapping.

The draft floodplain maps for these river reaches are
available at the county’s Floodplain Remapping Project website, www.BoCoFloodplainRemapping.com, where,
you can also learn more about purchasing flood insurance, the county’s
outreach efforts, and how you can get involved.

All comments related to these draft maps must be received no
later than 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 4 to be incorporated into the county’s
submission to CHAMP for their consideration.

Additional stream reaches will be available for review in
early 2018 and public meetings will be scheduled and announced on the
county website, the county calendar, in project newsletters, via the listserv,
social media (Facebook and Twitter), and through the various watershed
coalitions. Meeting materials will be posted to the county website
after each meeting.
