Draft maps currently available online

Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder County and the State of Colorado are
inviting residents of unincorporated county areas along Left Hand Creek (Geer
Canyon to Hover Road) and other interested parties to attend a draft map review
public meeting on Thursday, April 12.

Attendees can review and provide input on draft
floodplain maps from the Colorado Hazard Mapping Program (CHAMP) and
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Boulder County wants the draft maps
to accurately reflect local flood risk, which is why residents living along
area creeks are encouraged to learn more and provide input at this early stage.
Staff will be available to answer questions and take comments, and meeting
materials will be posted to the county website (below) after the meeting.

Public comment and input on the draft floodplain
maps will be taken at this meeting and can also be provided by using the
interactive web map before or after the meeting. To access the web map,
visit www.BoCoFloodplainRemapping.com and select "Review Draft Floodplain
Maps." All comments related to these draft maps must be
received no later than 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May. 6 to be
incorporated into the county’s submission to CHAMP for their consideration
during their next round of revisions to floodplain modeling and mapping.

The Floodplain Remapping Project website, www.BoCoFloodplainRemapping.com, also provides information about
weather-related meeting cancellations, purchasing flood insurance, the county’s
flood-related outreach efforts, and floodplain development guidelines.
