Background
Boulder County’s objective is to protect the county's public health, safety, welfare, and the environment to the maximum extent permitted by law. As such, the county is concerned about the potential for expanded oil and gas development in unincorporated Boulder County and intends to adopt appropriate and stringent local restrictions to mitigate the impacts of these activities.
The county has had a moratorium in place through May 1, 2017 on the processing of oil and gas development applications while the draft regulations are being developed.
