Bicyclist Seriously Injured On Olde Stage Rd

48 Year Old Male Crashed While Riding Down a Steep Hill

Boulder County, Colo. -

On December 1, 2017 Boulder County Sheriff’s Deputies along with
Lefthand Fire and American Medical Response (AMR) responded to the 6600 block
of Olde Stage Road. There was a report
of a bicyclist down in the middle of the road and it was unknown if he had
crashed or had been struck by a vehicle.
Upon arrival the bicyclist was found to be unresponsive and had severe
injuries. The 48 year old male bicyclist
was transported to Boulder Community Hospital and taken into surgery, he
remains in critical condition.

Through the course of the investigation it
was determined the bicyclist was not struck by a vehicle. He most likely lost control
of the bike while traveling down a steep portion of the roadway at a high rate
of speed. The Boulder County Sheriff’s
Office will be conducting the investigation.
At the request of the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office the Colorado State
Patrol responded to the scene and assisted with the accident reconstruction.
