ATV accident with injuries on Forrest Service Road 118A in Boulder County
Boulder County, Colo. - On Saturday, October
7, 2017 at approximately 3:21pm, Boulder County Communications Center
received a report of a 59-year-old male that was injured after he had rolled his ATV in the area of Forest Service Road 118.
Rescue personnel from Allen’s
Park Fire, Big Elk Meadows Fire, Pinewood Springs Fire, Estes Park
Ambulance, and Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the area and began looking for injured male. Shortly there after, two citizens on dirt bikes contacted rescue personnel and led them to the scene, which was approximately one mile from Coulson Gulch Trailhead on Forrest Service Road 118A.
The injured male and ATV were located up a steep hill to the west. The male party was stabilized and transported by helicopter for an open fracture of his lower leg.
It was learned that the male and his 54 year old female passenger
had been in a Polaris Razor going up a steep. The
Razor had rolled while they were trying to maneuver it back down the hill. The male was ejected and the ATV rolled over the male. The female passenger was able to help stabilize
him until help arrived. The female did
not suffer any injuries from the accident.
