Caregiver Initiatives 2016

CS Resource Fair

Boulder County is home to thousands of family caregivers who provide care for older relatives, partners, friends and loved ones. Our Caregiver Initiative programs include trainings, resources and events in support of our local caregivers throughout the year. This program exists with generous support from local sponsors and individual donors. Consider becoming a donor or sponsor for our CareConnections bi-monthly newsletter, or our annual Caregiving Symposium.

Various levels of sponsorship and support are available. For more information, contact Emily Cooper, at ejcooper@bouldercounty.org or 303-678-6116.

Web-Based Project Visibility Launches

Our Project Visibility team is pleased to announce the launch of a new web-based training designed for direct care providers who work at Long Term Care Homes and Home Health Agencies. It is free and available 24/7 for providers and staff to learn how to provide more culturally responsive care for the often invisible older lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender population.

Click here to see a short trailer for the training and to access the course.

Ashley S. LTCO

Ashley Suermann recently joined our staff as the new Long Term Care Ombudsman on the Elder Rights Team. She comes to us with her Masters in Social Work from University of Denver, and experience with the Alzheimer's Association, and A Little Help. We are thrilled to welcome Ashley to the Ombudsman team!

Eden head shot

Eden Mayne recently left the AAA after serving as Community Living Program manager since 2007. During that time, Eden undertook many projects, including building the Aging and Disabilities Resources for Colorado (ADRC) with community partners in Boulder County. Eden is a leader in the Colorado aging network and was also a spokesperson for ADRCs across the state. We wish her well in her new role as the manager of Senior Services for City of Boulder!
