Join Us for Falls Prevention Week
Falls are the leading cause of fatal injury and the most common cause of nonfatal trauma-related hospital admissions among older adults. The good news is that falls are NOT an inevitable consequence of getting older and MANY falls can be prevented. Join us Sept. 18 - 22 for Falls Prevention Week, sponsored by the Boulder County Partners for Falls Prevention. Learn how to prevent a fall from changing your life! Click here for a full schedule of events for the week (available September 5th). The (In)visible Boulder County project features the county’s often marginalized and underserved populations, and includes images and comments from the immigrant, working poor, transgender, homeless, and youth-in-crisis communities. For more information visit the (In)visible Boulder County and Sonder Collection websites. What: (In)visible Boulder County Film, Portraits and Community Conversation Partnering to End Elder Abuse We recently collaborated with Jane Walsh from the Community Protection Division of the District Attorney's office to provide our staff and volunteers with a picture of what Elder Abuse looks like in Boulder County and how we can work together to prevent it. District Attorney Stan Garnett stopped by both the staff and volunteer training sessions to give us some perspective on the scale of this issue. One volunteer had this to say: “That was an awesome training on Elder Rights! I had no idea elders were such a target for scams of all kinds!”
