2018 Land Conservation Awards Winners Announced

Boulder County Parks & Open Space Land Conservation Awards Wednesday, April 18

Boulder County, Colo. - The Boulder County Commissioners and Parks & Open Space staff will present their annual Land Conservation Awards Wednesday, April 18, in Longmont.

Each spring during Volunteer Week, Boulder County honors individuals or groups with its Land Conservation Awards for outstanding contributions made to the conservation, preservation, and protection of land-based environmental resources.

What: 2018 Parks & Open Space
Land Conservation Awards

When: Wednesday, April 18, 3 p.m.

Where: Ron Stewart Parks & Open Space building,
5201 St. Vrain Road, Longmont

The commissioners will present the following awards:

  • Land Conservation Award posthumously to Helen McCarty for outstanding achievement in land preservation and stewardship through the donation of a conservation easement over her 100-acre Centennial Farm.
  • Partnership Award to Defenders of Wildlife for outstanding achievement as an Alpine Partner in the Partnership Initiative Program. The group is focused on wildlife projects and always works towards a goal that benefits not only wildlife, but our community and the surrounding open spaces.
  • Two volunteer awards will be presented this year: to Roger Myers, an active Volunteer Naturalist for Boulder County Parks & Open Space since 2009; and Melanie Bohren for contributions as an active volunteer for the Colorado State University Extension Office and the Boulder County 4-H Program for over 10 years.
