Josephine Commons is a new development to meet the need for affordable housing in Lafayette by providing apartment style housing for seniors and multifamily rental units for low income families totaling 153 housing units located at 455 N. Burlington Ave, Lafayette, CO 80026.

Phase 1 – Completed August 2012 – fully leased, still accepting waitlist applications:

  • 70 unit senior 1 and 2 bedroom apartments
  • 4 duplex apartments

Phase 2 – Completed June 2014 – fully leased, still accepting wait-list applications:

  • 1- and 2-story townhouse units
  • 1- and 2-story duplex units

REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY FOR JOSEPHINE COMMONS, PHASE 1

A $10.95 per person, NON-REFUNDABLE application fee will be collected once a unit becomes available. Please do not send money now;

Every household member must be aged 55 or older.

The total household GROSS annual income, before any deductions, cannot exceed:

  • 4-person household: $56,280 maximum
  • 3-person household: $50,700 maximum
  • 2-person household: $45,060 maximum
  • 1-person household: $39,420 maximum
  • Must be able to pay the monthly rent – rent ranges are:
  • $820 for 1-bedroom units, depending on income and floor-plan
  • $950 for 2-bedroom units, depending on income and floor-plan
  • All household members must pass criminal background check, including the National Sex Offender database;
  • All household members must have clean rental background;

The story behind the name: Josephine Commons

The site is named after Josephine Aspinwall Roche (1886-1976), who was the controlling owner of the Rocky Mountain Fuel Company, which owned and operated many of the mines in the Lafayette area, including the site upon which this 70-unit senior apartment building will be constructed.

A Resource Coordinator will be on staff to assist residents with a wide variety of needs. The resource coordinator will work with seniors to ensure that they have access to:

  • Advocacy and Support

Meeting space and a library will also be available for residents’ enjoyment and use. There is also a beautiful Great Room and a large commercial kitchen. These areas will provide many options for residents to enjoy:

  • Residents can play cards, have book clubs, and study outside of their units
  • Wi-fi Internet access in common areas and Great Room
  • Beautiful views of the surrounding open space and park and gardens
  • Potential space for exercise classes, art displays and other communal meals and gatherings.
