SUMMARY:Astronomy: Mercury - A Planet of Extremes
DESCRIPTION:Join volunteer naturalists and astronomers from the Longmont Astronomical Society for a summer night astronomy program. Together\, we’ll learn about the night skies and view the celestial bodies residing in our galaxy and beyond.\nMercury\, the smallest planet in our solar system\, may be small\, but it has some big secrets. Join us to learn more about this mighty planet that closely orbits the sun and all of its surprising qualities.  \nBring a chair or blanket\, a light jacket\, and a red flashlight\, and get ready to enjoy a night out with the family. The presentation is at the picnic shelter. It is followed by stargazing in the parking area. Telescopes are provided by the Longmont Astronomical Society.  \nRegistration for most programs begins on the 20th of the month before the event. \nRegistration required. \nRegister \nRegistration is required through Discover Boulder County\, Parks & Open Space’s volunteer and event registration system. SUMMARY:Pride in the Parks: Foothills Birding
DESCRIPTION:This all-ages event welcomes LGBTQIA+ participants and allies. Join us for a morning of birding as we look for nesting foothills bird species. Together\, we’ll traverse approximately 1.2 miles with only 60 feet of elevation change. There are bathrooms\, benches\, and shade along parts of the trail\, but the route includes uneven\, narrow dirt trails. This free event is open to all skill levels — no prior birdwatching experience necessary. Loaner optics will be provided. Near Boulder.
