SUMMARY:Westernaires Wild West Show
DESCRIPTION:The Westernaires will bring its full performance division to the Boulder County Fairgrounds on Sunday\, August 16\, for a large-scale equestrian production unlike a traditional rodeo or horse show. This two-hour production will feature precision riding at speed\, trick riding\, Roman riding\, horse acrobatics\, roping\, and other family entertainment. \nThe event was originally scheduled to take place in Evergreen but was relocated after storm damage made the original arena unavailable. Rather than cancel the performance\, Westernaires moved the entire production to the Boulder County Fairgrounds\, where covered grandstands will provide spectators with shade and protection from elements while preserving the excitement of an outdoor arena show. \nThe Westernaires Full Arena Extravaganza begins at 2:00 p.m. and will feature two hours of precision mounted drill riding at speed\, world-class trick riding\, Roman riding\, horse acrobatics\, trick and fancy roping\, liberty riding\, colorful costumes\, flags\, music\, and other specialty performances. \nThe show brings together the entire performance division of Westernaires for an afternoon designed to entertain spectators of all ages. \nUnlike a competitive rodeo or conventional horse show\, the Westernaires production is a fast-moving theatrical presentation built around coordinated teams and specialty acts. Riders must work together with accuracy and confidence while controlling their horses through complex formations and maneuvers—often performed at considerable speed. \nBehind the spectacle is a longstanding youth-development mission. \nSince 1949\, Westernaires has developed young people of character through horsemanship and family participation\, fostering self-respect\, responsibility\, teamwork\, and leadership while carrying forward the best traditions of the West. \nThe volunteer-run nonprofit organization serves more than 1\,000 young people between the ages of 9 and 19. Around 350 of those riders will be performing in this show. \nThe August 16 performance will allow Longmont-area families and visitors to see that mission in action as riders transform years of instruction\, practice\, and teamwork into a full-scale public production. \nGeneral-admission tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children ages 5 through 14. Children age 4 and younger are admitted free. Westernaires charges no online ticketing fees\, and parking at the fairgrounds is free. \nConcessions will also be available during the event. \nThe Boulder County Fairgrounds is located at 9595 Nelson Road in Longmont.
