Community of Hope: Partner Stories

What Makes a Community of Hope?

Suzanne Crawford of Sister Carmen Community Center talks about the importance of understanding what each agency in the community does – so that together we truly can provide wrap-around supports for those in need in Boulder County.

Boulder County’s partners like Edwina Salazar of OUR Center in Longmont are also coming together to help design a more generative safety net: one that is more family driven, prevention oriented, and holistic.

Simon Smith of Clinica Family Health Services says: “We have an incredible opportunity here in Boulder County to strengthen our safety net with greater collaboration.” As he notes, other issues a client might face – such as a lack of adequate housing or food – can keep that person from benefiting fully from the long-term healthcare that Clinica and other partners provide.

For Bobbie Watson of the Early Childhood Council of Boulder County, the Community of Hope is very much about the work done collectively by all of us: by coming together to develop sets of common indicators and a shared vision, we can create a safety net that is held up by data and best practices.
